The Day Sakhe Arrived

The Day Sakhe arrived was a very exciting day for all of us! There had been a lot of talk about BellieBuddies at our house recently and we were all waiting for the first one to arrive. I guess I didn't realize how excited the kids would be to finally meet Sakhe. I mean, I was excited but I had no idea my younger son Van had been looking forward to it as much as I had. They were at school when the UPS driver delivered the package. I didn't even think about waiting to open it. I ran into the kitchen, sliced open the top of the box as quickly and safely as I could, I pulled Sakhe out and was instantly in love. The weight in her belly was perfect, she was oh so soft, just the right size and pretty cute too.

We had been working with the designers for months and up to this point the only thing I had seen was a few sketches of what Sakhe would look like when she was finished. Smiling, I put her back in the box and went to get the kids from school. When we got home I handed the box to my youngest son Van. Not knowing what I had just handed him (probably thinking it was a gift ) he immediately opened the box. I was expecting disappointment when he found out it wasn't a gift but what I got instead was elatement! He ran out side to show our dog Trigger. They played in the yard together for several minutes with Sakhe. When I realized what they were doing I followed them with my camera. I am still not sure how the dog didn't rip her up thinking she was a chew toy. Somehow Sakhe survived her initiation, she now takes turns sleeping with the boys (no Trigger doesn't get a turn).
